Anxiety & Panic

Anxiety treatment

Fear is a bad advisor is often said.
But is that really so?

Not as far as I'm concerned, because fear sends an important signal that danger is imminent.
At some point in your life this was very effective; run away, make yourself small, pretend you don't exist, fight, hide, freeze! Whatever it was, it was necessary. You can experience a lot of issues with this, even if the danger has passed.

Worrying a lot, not being able to sleep, not being able to feel well and feeling like everything is out of control, are some examples of this that I come across in my practice.

Fear can influence your choices

Fear is a basic emotion, we feel it to some extent every day, much of it we probably don't even realize. A little scared or a small shock, is not worth mentioning for many people. But for people who feel a lot of fear and panic, they will often end up in an experience as if they suddenly can't feel the ground. It can be very frustrating and scary to live with fear. You want to go on, go out, do what you want to do; but something is holding you back. For people with anxiety going out and doing simple stuff isn't always a given and it can even make you feel depressed. Sometimes they withdraw from the outdoors more and more, this can result in social isolation.

What we do in an anxiety treatment

If you are experiencing a lot of anxiety or panic, the first logical tactic is to think about it a lot. As if you can find a rational answer to a very strong feeling, you worry about the problem in front of you. The more you think, the more anxious you will become. And the more cloudy your issue seems to be. It can be complicated to break through, but the solution often comes from your body

My anxiety therapy is therefore focussed on how your body feels in the here-and-now. The more you focus on your body the better it will be to relax and regulate. Loose your mind and come to your senses
