Burnout

You forget a lot, have poor concentration, sweaty hands, trouble sleeping and are extremely irritable. It hardly takes an expert to discover that you probably suffer from symptoms associated with burnout. It is one of the most common reasons for seeking therapy.


In 2005 I wrote a thesis about burnout among students, something that made most teachers laugh at the time: "That doesn't really happen to students, does it?! Their life is so easy!" they said.

I'm still not laughing, but I'm very concerned about the large-scale dropouts of students and young employees.


The world's problems are becoming more tangible for these young people (eg climate crisis, housing crisis and racism) but they don't seem to have much influence to change this. Very frustrating. Meanwhile, you grew up with the promise that you can become anything you want? As far as I'm concerned, the so-called "millennial burnout" is a social phenomenon that requires real attention.



Often having a burnout is not only about working too hard or having too much work but mostly it comes from experiences and beliefs from your life that have given you a core message that you had to work hard, you can't say no and/or that you are structurally receiving too little support, influence or compensation.


How long does a burnout last? That depends on how you get started with what you have become aware of, whether you have enough support and whether you can organize your life differently. I'll help you find yourself again and help you re-asses your practical situation.


Depressed feelings

You haven't felt like yourself for a while. Sadness alternates with a feeling of emptyness, everything seems gray and you don't feel like doing anything. It's like you're in some kind of invisible bubble.

You eat & sleep badly.


Burnout and depression can present themselves together, but they can also occur independently.
